The Woodman Inn wedding..

I have to say, even though this year has been UNBELIEVABLY tough, I am absolutely loving these smaller weddings.

I hate that we don’t have the choice, and that a lot of my couples have had to cut short their list of loved ones that they want to celebrate with. But, oh my goodness me. Every 2020 wedding so far has been bloody beautiful. Amy and Jamie’s wedding day was no exception.

This lovely pair of humans, like so many others, had to postpone their 2020 wedding due to ‘you know what’. They had their new date booked in for April next year, and then a few weeks ago I received a text from Amy and it just totally made my day. Her and Jamie decided that they just didn’t want to wait any longer to get married. They’d rebooked their wedding for the end of October, and to just have a small celebration with their closest family. This was at a point when a LOT of postponements and cancellations were happening, so these guys were an absolute ray of sunshine in all the madness.

I met the lovely Amy at her house on the morning of the wedding. She was getting ready with her mum, and it was just a lovely, chilled out morning. Once her hair and make-up were done, Amy went to get her dress on. And WHAT A DRESS! It was so gorgeous. I certainly had a ball photographing Amy in her beautiful gown!

Before we knew it, it was time to head off to the venue. These guys were tying the knot at the Woodman Inn in Huddersfield. I had never been before but it was such a hidden little gem! Amy travelled in style to the venue in a mint green camper van booked as a surprise by her dad! Jamie was ready and waiting for his beautiful bride.

It was certainly an emotional moment when Amy walked down the aisle. There were tears from Jamie as well as all the mums in the room! The registrars were AMAZING. As a wedding photographer we meet a lot of different registrars, vicars and celebrants, and these guys were just ace!

After the ‘I do’s’ and a big old first kiss, we headed across to the reception venue. They had done such an incredible job of decorating the room. There was a huge ‘Mr & Mrs’ sign, beautiful foliage, personalised beer bottles, sweetie jars for the flower girl and page boy, and little wooden place names for every guest.

We managed to get lots of lovely photos of the happy couple despite the rain. The autumn colours were out in full force, and made the most beautiful backdrops for us! These guys were so natural and smiley with each other, which just makes my job such a dream!

After some confetti and a whole load of fizz, it was time for the speeches. Probably one of my favourite parts of these smaller weddings. Amy’s dad, Jamie and his brother all made a speech. They were all as brilliant as each other, and SO heartfelt.

Thank you to Amy & Jamie for proving that small weddings can be just as incredible. What a total pleasure to be your wedding photographer 🙂
