An epic wedding workshop at Ponden Mill..

Since starting my business almost five years ago, I set myself a target of doing at least one wedding workshop every year. I thought that 2020 might just be the year it didn’t happen, but the wonderful Freya Raby managed to pull out the big guns and organise this amazing shoot!

Everything about this workshop spoke to me. Exciting new wedding venue tucked away behind the beautiful West Yorkshire village of Haworth. Unbelievable floral designs created by Emma Cox floristry. The most beautiful dress from The Aisle in Ilkley. The most awesome couple Jo and Kieran who are just taking the wedding industry by storm at the moment! Too many amazing suppliers to shout about and the full credits to this amazing team are all at the bottom of the page…

So I arrived on the morning of the workshop to this INCREDIBLE wedding venue and I was totally blown away! Even the drive to the venue was just stunning. Surrounded by hills and beautiful countryside. Ponden Mill really is a hidden gem.

Haworth has always been such an obsession of mine. I have been going there since I was little, and what a perfect spot for a new wedding venue! And for all your history and literary lovers, Ponden Mill was visited and loved by the Bronte sisters, which for me just makes it even more special.

When I arrived, everyone was busy working their magic. Kelly and Natasha were putting the finishing touches to Jo’s hair and make-up, and Emma was putting those last few flowers in place to complete her incredible floral arch. Freya was setting up the Instant Photo Booth, and by busy, I mean her and I were taking selfies! Good times!

We all sat down to a very warm welcome from Freya to kick things off, and we even had our own personalised biscuits courtesy of the amazing Where The Ribbon Ends!

Once everyone was ready to go, we started off with some photos of Jo and Kieran in front of the beautiful flower arch that Emma had created. We played around with some different ideas, and I always love hearing how other photographers pose their couples. Everyone has their own unique way of doing things and there’s always something to learn!

The table setup was absolutely stunning. Everyone had done such a wonderful job on the overall design. It was also so nice to see a small table setup, especially with so many micro weddings happening at the moment. Hopefully the photos should give couples some inspiration that small weddings can be just as beautiful as the larger ones! I certainly think so anyway!

After some photos inside, we had a break for lunch whilst Natasha and Kelly worked their magic on creating a whole new look for Jo. We were treated to the most amazing food courtesy of The Outside Kitchen. It was an absolute masterpiece and such a treat!

Thankfully the weather was kind to us, so after we were all suitably full, we headed outside for some more epic portraits. I have to say, Jo and Kieran were just a dream. You can see why they are the king and queen of Instagram at the moment! They were so easy to photograph and so easy to get along with. And most importantly, they were happy to go along with all of our crazy ideas!

Before we knew it, it was time to head our separate ways. I have to say an almighty thank you to Freya for putting this amazing workshop together, and to all the incredible suppliers for absolutely smashing it out of the park! What an awesome day this was, and I can’t wait until the next time I can work with these awesome wedding creatives!
